In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. James 3:5-6
As we roll into a new year, God has placed it on my heart the Importance of our words. We should be speaking life not only in ourselves, but others as well. There is power in the words that we say. Sometimes we say things like were broke or something I picked up from someone that is sick or stop being sick. The enemy wants us to think nothing of it or believe it’s not that serious. That is why it’s important to be cautious on the things we listen to and watch.
As a follower/Child of Jesus you should want to be on his level. We should be working to have the same likes and dislikes as our Father. When we are angry or just frustrated, not lashing out and speaking in the moment. Something I do when I am upset is to look at myself (how can I make this situation better) and talking to Jesus in the moment. Jesus is my safe place; He is always with me and knows me better than myself. I know that He sees more than I can and understands more than I do. Proverbs 19:11 “Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.”
In Luke 6:31/45 it says that ” Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” Go out and spread love into others, you never know what they are going through.
Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing us with another day. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and allowing us to grow more in your word to strengthen our relationships with you. You are worthy of all the glory and praise; we love you so much Jesus. Please help us be more like you and allow us to be quiet when we need to. And allow us to be slow with anger in those moments and just fill us with your spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
